Hi just wondering if anyone has tried white screen keying for stuff shot on the red ? I've heard white screen is quite effective for DV what about the Red ? And if anyone has tips for keying on Red footage that would be most helpful.

You want to key on white?

The effectiveness of most keying depends on 1) good clean background 2) differentiation from the subject (so white is no good if you have bright highlights in the image and 3) decent software.

Keylight on AE CS4 will key prettty much anything you throw at it - greenscreen is still the best for most subjects imho. And NOTHING keys well from DV generally - the colorspace is too small for the keyer to grab hold of - although I can see how maintaining a 'clean' white background would be easier in DV.

I guess white is suggested for DV because the luma channel in DV is not subsampled. It should work decently in some cases - if you don't worry about a white fringe around your subjects...
