Some people have been dissatisfied with the battery mounts from RED, even the updated version. So Switronix adapted their time-tested V-mount for use with the RED One camera. This is a replacement v-lock battery mount that attaches directly to the RED Cradle or Quickplate in place of the original RED battery mount. It will properly pass battery status information to the camera. Additionally the Switronix SW-GP-SRED has a 12v Powertap on the side which is fused to protect your accessories from shorts or electrical overloads.

The Switronix SW-GP-SRED is available exclusively from Abel Cine Tech.

    Hi Mitch,
Can you post why this is preferable to a Red v mount plate? I am unaware of the issues with the new ones (I know the glitchiness of the old ones)

This is currently near the top of my list of "gear to get."

You'd be looking at the interior guts with a rubber grommet spacer. Any value to that? The mounting holes are IDX standard, which the Cradle and Quickplate support. The mount comes with the grommet and appropriate screws.

I've been talking with ET about this and a number of things. It currently does not mount to the ET plate unless you machine some holes in that plate, but there will be a solution from ET in the future.

People have reported issues with the new-style RED mounts. RED has apparently been prompt to fix them; this is an alternative to solve the issue.

Does it need a spacer plate at the back? The Red v lock has a heavy steel spacer/reinforcing plate. Does the Switronix battery mount do without this and connect directly to the cradle or quickplate (thus saving much weight)?

    Cheers

It has a spacer to make a clean, flat seal, but it is rubber not steel. The Switronix mount saves considerable weight.
