I did a little bit of internet checking and there doesn't seem to be an option for rack mounting the Mac Pro. Am I missing something?

    Thanks,

    Steve

I don't think there is a dedicated rack mount kit, but most computers work fine mounted on their sides.

Are you looking for rack mounting it in a proper rack, or something like that could do? MacCuff Pro by Sonnet

Here's sort of a solution, but you have to buy their rack:

I have one made by Marathon computers, but it looks like they don't exist anymore. I can mount 2 G5's or Mac Pro's vertically in a 19" rack.

I have a 19" rack. I can get cases for hard disk arrays and PCs all day long. I don't have any experience with the Mac Pro yet. More then likely I will be adding a Mac Pro to my arsenal and was hoping Apple had a standard rack mount case for the Mac Pro. Guess I can add a shelf and stand it up. :-/

Marathon used to make a mount for PowerMac G5s, but you would have to saw the handles off as the case is too tall to fit horizontally in a 19" rack.

I got one from Marathon that mounts 2 vertically (no need to saw off handles), but it is like 6U!

Way more than 6U, more like 12-14U; Remember the Xserve is 1U high.

Yes. You're missing Apple's insistence that if you want a rack mounted Mac, you buy an XServe, whether it meets your technical needs or not.
