what is the crop in red rushes for 2.40

I hear exactly what you're saying. I am having this issue right now. I want to see an "overlay" in 2.40 when I watch the dailies/do a rough edit. Making a matte or and overlay in photoshop and then rendering a timeline is not a reasonable solution. Maybe in the next rev of Red Rushes? Hey, you can burn in time code, it should be a cinch to make "aspect ratio overlays". I see this thread hasn't been updated since April. Any new news out there on this?

My advice - Render 16:9, Matte the viewing main monitor you are editing with, or hard matte for your projector for rushes (i.e Gaffer or something else, a physical matte.)

Advantage here is that you have room to reframe up or down if need be, and your batch processing is easier. Then Matte in software at the end.

Practical and will take you less time then it took to post this. :)

Thanks for your reply Craig, but I guess I don't really understand what u are saying. Is there another thread I can read about this one? I don't really understand what you mean when you say "matte". Basically, I need to make dailies for the director that have the 2.40x1 aspect overlay'd so he can see it for reference. Cropping does no good b/c he won't be able to see the full frame. Also, there is no monitor for editing at this stage since we are still shooting and we are doing rough cuts of the dailies, basically. After priciple photog, it'll go to a post house where we'll have all the calibrated monitors we need for off and online.

I'm beginning to think there is no way to do what I am trying to do.
