Can Windows and CS4 handle Scarlet???

I'm gearing up for purchasing a 2/3" or S35 Scarlet once they are released and I'm wondering if my current computer will be able to handle it's files while using Adobes CS4 Suite?

Computer Specs:
Windows XP x64
Q6600 (quadcore) @3.2 gHz
4gigs of DDR2 800mHz RAM
ASUS WS PRO Motherboard
1x250gig drive for OS
2x500gig drives in RAID 0 for footage
1x500gig drive for scratch disk
2x250gig drives for backup and misc
nVidia 8800GT 512mb video card

I'm not really familiar with the workflow yet but will my system run or will it crawl? I really don't want to be beating my head against the wall because the system is too slow.

Add 4 more gigs of ram and you are good to go. I hope that when scarlet is out, the adobe plugin will be better, meanning better performance and features. Still no news of a new version. OTOH you have cineform, it will work well with that configuration.

I have been working with the Adobe work flow and Red for the the last few months on a slightly lesser computer and have honestly found it to be very workable. I have no problem getting real time playback even with some slight color correction. I find the premiere/ aftereffects work flow works very seamlessly, once understood. I'm not saying it's not time for an upgrade, it most certainly is, but it is most definitely workable.

My only gripe with cs4 red plugin is no metadata control, apart from that it rocks, for us it's very stable on a old HP8600, I'm sure they'll soon release new version of the plugin, hoping NAB gives us the news of when.

We use Prem/afx, then digital fusion for serious grades, can be done in afx, but we are more fusion guys so.

Note about fusion, they have a programme called generations now, for anyone wanting a kickass workflow for quite cheap for what it does, edit in cs4, open the edl in generations, then you basically right clik on any clip in your edit in generations and you can grade or composite your shots, with the clik of a mouse your back in your edit in generations, generations has version stacking and all, it's a dream come true for us, and they are releasing r3d support in a few weeks, not sure why there not on this forum telling all about it yet.

We will be posting a short skit we whipped out the other day soon, grading it now, shot with the russian wideangle lense, why we wait for our rpp's.

My P4 with 3GB RAM on WinXP can work with 4K (though not very well) so I think you'll be fine.
My laptop with a dual core Centrino at 2GHz with 4GB on Vista works with 4k much better.
Again, I think you'll be alright.
