    hi,

i have two camera that started exhibiting the green frame/audio fault with playback on build 17 three days ago. after going through (what i felt was) every possible way to reproduce the problem to no avail, i went to the latest build 18. the problem was severe on 17, but it still exists on 18 but less often. unfortunately, less often is not an option...it needs to be non-existent.

    4K HD
    hard drive mags
flash drive mags (ERROR DOES NOT OCCUR)
on-board tri-level sync with jammed timecode (not using genlock)

currently, i disconnected the cf modules from the body because i do not use the card reader.

    any ideas?

Why did you disconnect the CF drive from the camera body?

sorry, the last post got away from me.

i spoke with a technician and he suggested (although a shot in the dark) maybe the module had gone bad. he had seen it happen before, but not resulting in an off the wall audio fault. at this stage, i am willing to try anything.

    Hi,

I've experienced the same issue a few times, and last time when that happened, I told the camera dept. not to interrupt the "post" process when stopping the recording. It was just my guess on their habit, but it seemed to solve the problem. I thought it had something to do with the Quicktime reference files or something. Sorry I couldn't be more clear with my post.

    Best luck,

Hi Yort. This is a problem that has not been fixed yet. We all want it gone, but that i still the case.

Whenever I've seen this problems it's always because I have an audio port enabled without a mike/line attached. Disable the audio port and the issue goes away.

Both my cameras have gotten this even with line out mixer engaged. The problem was very severe on both cameras until Red did a repair. They told me there was a known problem in the sata path. After repair the problem was gone when recording on CF but was still intermittant on Red Drive. After a lot of testing the problem seemed to occur when recording on a Red drive formatted by a differant camera. I tested again recording only on the same drive/cable as formatted and the problem was gone. One exception, one of my four Red drives still showed this error. I am sending this drive back to Red for evaluation. It appears this is a complex problem.

There are a lot of different data errors writing/read r3d files. The rocket i/o audio error on my camera has been resolved by removing audio devices/disabling the outputs.
There are also weird errors writing to CF which Red know is media specific, e.g. they have recalled all 16GB cards shipped prior to a date (Dec, I think).
If Reddrive issues can't be fixed with reload of camera software/format of drives/swap or disable accessories..it's probably back to depot.
