Thanks for the Epic Reducation course. What a power-packed couple of days it was. *The stream-line evolution of the four-day Reducation course in December to the Epic course is a sight to behold. * What a great companion piece to add to the Red playbook. *You wet our lips with the montage of Red-shot movies that would make the most confident camera company green - or perhaps more appropriately red- with envy. The euphoric, 4K footage projected on the monstrous screen can only be experienced to believe. *Descriptions only fall short. *I hadn't warmed my seat up before we were putting *our Epic package together. *The slates were cracking and the drives were burning files before you could say "5K, full debayer."*

Screening in 4K and tweaking in Red Cine-X Pro rounded out the start-to-finish first-day. *

The free-form second day was the icing on the cake, Cake Boss. *We all went our separate ways to glutton ourselves on vintage car shoots, *taser fascination, rig set-up rigamaroles and post work-flow recipes.

The TA's row-with-the-flow attitude allowed each group an individualized, organic shape. *The top-down attitude within Red -that it wants to be the best- trickles down and unites TA field-generals and student foot-soldiers in a common goal. * What a great lot! *Shout out to Big Lu -the big Teddy Bear TA who took every dare we threw at him to push the Epic- for imparting his wisdom.

Under the weather I left before the final footage review but I left with confidence in*my skill set and in Red's role in the universe. I pushed back from the table full from a feast of a new technology that I have only begun to fully digest on my plane ride back to Virginia.

Many thanks to the Dean of Reducation, Brian, Bree and all the supporting cast for pulling off a great course.

    Highest regards,

    Jonas Collins
I absolutely agree with Jonas. I would add that Andrew was the perfect TA for me. He was a great help with all his insight in prepping the camera to the R3D workflow.

We will continue to work on the format of REDucation and really appreciate the feedback - we had ten EPIC packages on the stage last week and lots of footage being uploaded to the FTP server for the students to play with. Thanks to the 50 RED users who joined us.

The December event is officially finalized and open for registration, it will be similar in format to our May REDucation and will be held at RED Studios Hollywood.

    December 5th-7th, REDucation
    December 7th REDucation Open House
December 8th-9th, RED 3D (with Mark Pederson) and RED Post (with Michael Cioni)

The details are outlined at http://www.red.com/learn/reducation and registration is at http://decemberreducation.eventbrite.com

Anyone who can, should take this course. It was a pleasure to help out with it in the past. Mark and Michael will blow your minds with so much information. It's literally the best way to get hands on time with Epic and get training from experts in the field.

Just got back from LA, I was helping out at the Sep. Epic Reducation, I just want to let everyone know the course rocked, and not only there were over 11 Epics in the room, but we had outstanding Teachers... and support.
I totally recommend to take a class....

    Cheers,

I would recommend by the way for those using the 300mm prime from RED double the 15mm rod attachmemts and then put lens support in middle so that the first part is fixed to the baseplate or quick-release platform and the last 15mm serves as a post for the end, much more stability and less chances of your beauty going back in for repair due to stress from the lens to the body.

Hiya, just wondering how often the Reducations take place? I've found out about the December one a little late. Are they looking to continue into 2012. Looks like a great event.

    Thanks,

    Matt
