Hey you passionate motion picture makers...

I have noticed numerous threads and posts by the Aussie counterparts but little from NZ.
It would be great to catch up with some of the RED owners/frequent users to keep our selves in the loop.

    What do you think?

Email me if you are interested, post something on the thread or email me on jae@redreampix.com. Thanks.

    Hi Jae,

there are several cameras working here in Auckland at the moment. 2 TV shows, I know of personally, a few TVC's as well. Stop by PVNZ.

We have RED 525 here at Brandspank, Arch Hill, Auckland, New Zealand
It is used pretty regularly in two distinct areas.
    1. TVC's and Titles shoots for Brandspank clients.
    2. Library footage shot for Gettyimages.

I know Toybox in Auckland has one, and Rocket has at least one... Scott from Rocket posts on here a bit. I've met quite a few others in production and post houses that have purchased one that they rent out on jobs privately.

We almost purchased one ourselves (2nd hand), but couldn't quite convince the powers that be - they'd heard it was a $17.5k camera, and couldn't understand why it was going to cost $30k for one 2nd-hand with all the bits...

I lived in wellington and around for a year. One of the most beautiful countries in the world and I wish I could work out there for the rest of my life. I will have a camera soon, any production companies out there need a body and a guy? Im willing to do whatever it takes to get back out there.

I mean doesnt anyone have connections at the film commission out there to do some promo work or something? If anyone out there is interested let me know, again like I said, Im willing to do whatever it takes to get out there, and Im familiar with the areas as well.
It changes every day, but is always the same: research for Equilibrium.
I believe that the Image, as the language of Cinema, is formed by the conflict and harmony of the two different elements of life: Light and Darkness.
Trying to find an Equilibrium between these two opposite forces as I visualize different stories, becomes — every day — the reason for my creative effort.
The research of this is my own life.

Dammit you guys, I wish I could play around with a Red or even watch you guys use it and see how it works, workflow and what not.

It's hard to get a Job for film/TV entertainment, everything on seek seems to require 2 years of work experience :( or else your a waste of time. Hell, I'd be coffee man if I could stick my feet on a TV set and work my way up from there.

I plan on saving up for the scarlet, so if you guys wanna meet up sometime, we should have a Red day in NZ hahaha. Check out everyones rig once the new line of cameras comes out, would be pretty cool.

Hey Jonathon - where in NZ are you situated? The thing about getting on set work is not looking for a job on a set, but more finding someone who knows a production manager who might need an extra runner for a few days every now and then. Not a regular gig mind you, but a sort of stand in runner. That's a pretty common foot in for those flexible enough to do the job.

    Hey Craig,

I'm based in Auckland, yourself? I see where your coming from. I've had no luck with bumping into production managers, haha. My brother has been doing tallent work on the set of Spartacus, an American T.V. series being shot over here. It's a pretty huge production by the sounds of it. Click here if your interested. So I was thinking of submiting myself for tallent work to a modeling agency just so I can be an extra and get on the set of something. Good thing about it is you dont have to be pretty to get a job, so might be worth a shot. If it works I can start offering help to some of the production managers if they need me.

Other then that I just keep my eye on seek and hope I bump into a production manager haha. What kind of work are you doing?
