Hi John, nice one man! I'm here on the South Island, if you ever need a sound guy for your indie I can certainly give you a hand there. I have all the gear, lavs, booms, shotguns, d recorders, and I work as a sound director/boom in shorts, docs and long features from time to time. I also shoot on dslrs but if you're getting a red or two then you should be alright in the image department ;) I never used a red before so I'm curious about this cameras and what they can do for independent low/no budget filmmakers. Regarding film school education - I dunno about NZ Film schools but I went to film school in Portugal for 4 years and I really think the best film school is really to watch good movies and to go and just make movies. Good thing about film schools is that you meet people that have the same interest as you, and you can learn all the basics very quickly, saves you some time.... learning by doing it! :) thats my motto! We can't all be p jacksons but nothing is stoping us from trying! eheheh all the best Bernardo, Dunedin

Hello people of New Zealand,
I'm Ryan. This is my first post in REDUSER. I'm a beginning Filmmaker and trained Actor. I have studied at Raindance. Which among its bright Alumni is Christopher Nolan, Guy Ritchie, and more.
I cannot describe how much I dream of shooting with a RED camera. I find it extremely fascinating. Unfortunately I cannot hire one !! And I want to shoot my short films on RED !
I'm coming to Auckland in July. And would really hope if there is someone out there who would give me the chance to shoot just a little test with it. Of course I won't be too greedy to operate it, I would only direct the test scene. I have good relations with many wonderful talents in New Zealand.
I've visited ParkRoad Post in Wellington. And would be very happy to visit Post-Production houses in Auckland.
Filmmkaing is my Passion, my life, and my calling.

You're a Kiwi Mark? You're not related to Brae Toia by any chance?
Ryan, if you drop me an email at nick@halcyondigital.co.nz I'm sure we could sort you for a test shoot in July.
