  1. #1 Red Black Out (Build 17)
When shooting last week in New York we had a great RED experience again, though we encountered a nasty problem. Without any warning the camera just blacked out, and rebooted. At first I thought it was my Origo / Lemo (had used it a lot, never had a problem before B17). But even without the Origo, the camera shut down four or five times on two days shooting. The footage looks great (one clip had a lot of dropouts, one of about 300).

    Any idea anyone?

PS. Quite fun to shoot in NYC - I think maybe ten to fifteen people stayed around to talk RED. Once a whole family stayed to shoot pictures - of the RED! DS.

Same problem! Freshly upgraded camera started to reboot itself. 3-5 times a day. Will do further testing a report

During playback or just sitting around?

I've encountered one camera that would reboot itself at will. No fun. It got sent back to RED if memory serves.

It was rather funny once we figured out it wasn't one of our accessories. The camera would be sitting in the middle of a room, 10 feet from anybody and anything... and it'd suddenly reboot. Ghost in the machine.

Try BETA Build 18 3.6.4 and see if you still have any reboots.

Well ours, rebooted just during normal moving around/standing around. Once it did just as the operator pressed the record button.

Every time this happens the LCD goes BLUE

I've met this problem too, but only with one specific camera out of all the different ones I've used over time. The only possible factor was the battery plate, which was a hot-swap plate I'd not seen before, not the Switronix one. I can't remember who made it though. A dip in power could cause it perhaps?

Very bad behaviour though, it rebooted itself twice during a take and probably about 6 or 7 times in total over three day shoot. That was build 17, only a few weeks ago. No accessories drawing power from the camera though, and each time the battery was almost fresh.

This just happened to me, too, on a camera that I just received back from the upgrade program. Twice in one day. On the very first day out with it since receiving it back last week.

Stuart, can I get that same PM. Or should I contact support? Or...?
