I visited Caldigit site and found this.

    http://www.caldigit.com/VR_mini/

The RAID1 and RAID0 choices would provide us flexibility to choose the speed or safety.

And wow, they included the circuit so firewire provides the bus power when eSATA is connected. Gawd.

I am very happy with these Raid1 disks, they're even smaller in size:

I'd buy Caldigit over G-tech, I had many problems with G-tech drives in the past. G-tech fans can buy G-tech, Caldigit fan can buy Caldigit, but clearly, LaCie fell behind now.

The size is large probably because of hot-swappable bays. Since 500GB 2.5" drives can be purchased easily, being able to swap drives give so much more possibilities as long as Caldigit doesn't do anything weird.

Is there a drive like this that is bigger and takes 3.5" drives? That's what I'm interested in.

I like the Rocraid from Rocstor, but I don't like having to screw the drives into the trays.

i use caldigit, g-tech, and lacie. and pro avio. i have had good and bad experiences with all of them. i know most people here have only bad things to say about lacie, but we have about 20 of them in constant rotation and have had less problems with them than the caldigit drives that we have had experience with.

as much as i want to join the lacie haters, and love the cool new caldigit products, i just can't, due to my personal experiences with all of them.....
