RED has stated that they will define a color "look" spec - and it will be in the SDK - so all RED apps speak the same color language.

and YES - I'm looking VERY forward to going from APP to CAMERA with a color look file!!

#1 - DPs can watch camera tests instantly - with full quality 4K debayer

#2 - The QUALITY of processed R3D media goes up because you can do everything with a 4K full debayer in less time than it takes now to process with a 2K debayer.

#3 - It makes 4K as EASY as HD.

#4 - It will drive the display manufactures to respond with a lower cost 4K panel - or RED will get tired of waiting and just do it themselves.

to be honest, i was hoping this day would have come a year ago. this would truly be awesome.....(will be awesome??).

we used to hear a lot about this from RED, but the topic has gone silent for what seems like eternity.

sure would be nice though, especially considering this 'look' would be the same across all SDK-based apps.

maybe the rocket will spur some of this into reality??

Jim did say that when the RR and Color science are both ready, they'll roll out a new SDK update with both. What would be great is if at the same time, they rolled our release build 20, with a new SDK, plus interchangeable look format.

Will it happen? Who knows. But it seems like things could line up nicely for all 3 to happen at the same time.

For those of us on the Windows side and who like to build our own systems, this seems like a good mobo for starters.

    http://www.supermicro.com/products/m...0/X8DAH+-F.cfm

    for starters it has
    2 (x16) PCI-E 2.0,
    4 (x8) PCI-E 2.0 (1 in x 16 slot),
    1(x4) PCI-E slot

support for dual xeon 5500 cpus and up to 144GB of memory. hehehe.
