    After refreshing the sales page for 20 minutes, I think I got my order in within 10 seconds of it going live a couple of weeks back.

    That's where I got confused, although now it's clear to me how this will work.

    I originally thought it meant the entire transcoding process took place on the card itself.

    You mean the new CompressHD card? I have one in my system.. and normal Quicktime software H.264 encoding on my mac is actually faster than using the CompressHD card...

    I am using it in the fastest mac pro available though, with alot of CPU horsepower.. I imagine the CompressHD card may actually help things if you are using an older system on its last legs.
