FCP does support sequences all the way up to 4000x4000 pixels (via Custom setting), just shy of 4K cine (4096). Color is limited to 2K (2048x1556 Super35) though...

So will transcoding times be faster than real-time at a full debayer? Will a half debayer be selectable for super fast transcodes?

Also, in FCP, will it decode one stream at a time or will it allow multiple streams?

As mentioned before, what type of PCI Express card is it? x1, x4, x8, x16?

    Thanks!!!

Will there be a separate player application or will it use something like REDCine to play out to a deck? If so then is there going to be an update to REDCine along with the release of this card?

Transcoding involves many pieces outside of REDrocket (transcoding app, codec running on the cpu, cpu speed, bandwidth to cpu, bandwidth to disk, etc) however REDrocket will run faster than realtime if the rest of the system is keeping up.

Deanan, is it reasonable to assume Red Rocket will work with the newly 4k capable Vegas NLE?

Hell yeah! (translated: any software using the SDK will be able to take advantage of REDrocket)

Hope that it will work on:

    Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro2,1
    Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 3 GHz

    and later newer models>>>
