Will it be able to replace a system's graphics card? Mac Pros are sorely lacking in the card department... and all of mine are already filled. I'd love to be able to lose the graphics card and just put the RR in. Doable, or is that outside of what is possible?
You still need a graphics card.

  6. #56 Rendering DPX's
    Deanan,
Will the rocket render files internally, If I have fast enough raid can I render DPX's in real-time say in 2k?? Or is it just or external playback?

    thx

Yup. These things were fairly popular when I was in the pro-audio world for Digidesign Pro Tools setups. Then the Digi cards got more powerful and there was less need for PCI expansion solutions.

PCI bus saturation was an issue, though I'm not sure if it still is with PCIe.

    Deanen,

Are you intentionally skipping my question about acceleration of future resolutions(5k,6k) and redcode100 etc? ;)

Thanks for the great news Jim. RED Rocket sounds like an incredibly exciting addition to the RED product line.

    Deanan,

Can you give me an idea, even if it's just an educated guesstimate of render ratios on let's say a 2.66 Nehalem based 8 core Mac Pro, going from 4K to Avid's DNx115 codec?

Will RR obviate the need for render farming?

    Thanks much,
    Larry Jordan
