I was looking through the Epic Scarlet page on red.com (Which by the way, is over 6 months old now...update time )

Anyway, it reminded me that we know the Epic brain is wider than the Scarlet, which makes me wonder if the lens mounts will be interchangeable over both lines, or whether there will be 2 of each mount, one for all of the Epics, and one for all the Scarlets? Anyone have any evidence on this one? Red people?
    Peace,

    -Harry

  2. #2 mounts?
I'm just hoping the RED1 mounts in NIkon fm RED and CAnon from Birger can be adapted to the new bodies?

I don't think that the mounts would be different between Scarlet and Epic - but they will probably be different for different frame sizes. For example, the Nikon mount should fit on the s35 and FF35 Epic and Scarlet models (and maybe the 2/3" Cinema) but I doubt it would fit on the 645.

That's my guess, but in the pictures of the brains on the RED site, they do look a bit different - hopefully they will be the same in the newer versions though.

I don't think you will be able to - at least not with a 1st party mount... It should be possible to make a mount that would work with RED ONE mounts, but I don't think RED would bother.

I think the lens mounts will be the same for all models and fully interchangeable. Like a lens board on a view camera. There shouldn't be a need for R1 mounts or adapters. They will have a Canon and Nikon mount.
I suppose Birger will be making a new series of mounts for these to implement electronic lens controls. RED is not doing that.
These will be much simpler mounts than R1, as backfocus will be adjusted by moving the sensor block.
