Best Way To Pass The Time Waiting For Scarlet

Just curious, what the other forum members are doing to pass the time while waiting for the Scarlet? Busy shooting projects with your current gear? Holding pat and waiting for Scarlet? Pre-production with a script in hand? Or did you just jump ship and get an EX3?

Me personally, I'm shooting a music video later this month, or at least the nightclub scene for the video. I've got some other shooting days for the video so I'll be busy with that for a few weeks, then I have to edit it. So I've got a couple weeks to keep my mind off the Scarlet.

After that it'll be back to obsessing.

Get a AJA Ki Pro (when ever in June it's supposed to drop) and use what you have now. ProRes is better than any other outta camera codec sub 25K...

Shoot your scenes with any camera and work on the acting. Work on the script. Play with lighting. Get a still camera if nothing else.

from the pictures i've seen, this doesn't look small enough to be a portable solution. maybe i'm wrong. i'd love to get one of these but it will be useless once the scarlet comes out. that's an expensive piece to add to the rig.

I just finished editing a school musical. Still need to do a sound edit on a stage performance and then I have a complete edit waiting of a live music performance of the excellent Irish music group Comas.

Besides that I'm renovating my house and started work on a short movie over at wreckamovie.com (A New Dawn)

So lot's of stuff to keep me busy until Scarlet comes along.

For those interested, I'm using an XHA1 (which will become the B-cam when I get a Scarlet Fixed)

I'm busy producing some Ads with my newly bought GH1 to get some more money. After that I'll do two Shorts just for fun and training. And then I hope the Scarlet Fixed is available. :-)

Ahh, and I'll start producing a Webshow later this month...

So, yeah. I'm busy and not sitting around waiting for the fixed scarlet. But I'd love to do all of this with the Scarlet.

just shot some super 8 Kodachrome (expired 1980) test ... the results looked pretty good ... now looking to buy a super 8 camera .... will shoot a 3-5min short on super 8 kodachrome ...

IDK bout portability, def something to consider, but it wont be useless when Scarlet comes out. Redcode has to be transcoded to edit (until Redrocket ships) Ki pro you get straight ProRes even from Scarlet, that can save time with the whole offline/online if u gonna finish in ProRes or lower.... Somethin to think about... Im in the same boat as you and alot of others waiting for Scarlet.

I'm mostly just doing contests (since I haven't really found real work yet) with my XH-A1. My friend's getting a 5D soon so we're gonna be shooting a few contests with that.
