We have some DNxHD codec QTs generated from RedRushes - they look crisp and fine in FCP but they were then captured into DS Nitris (v.8) and they look soft. Is there some setting(s) we're missing? Thanks!

What were the export settings on REDrushes?
Debayer Quality = Half Res (High)
Color Space = Redspace
Gamma Space = Redspace
Scale = 1920x1080
Fit Width
Resample Filter = CatmulRom and Mitchell
Codec = 720p DNx 185/220 10bit
Thanks! Stella
Hmmm.... how does the resulting QT look after the transcode in MoviePlayer?
Michael
The sharpness looks right (the color is a bit washed out).
Each codec has it's own idiosyncrasies. Remember that RED does NO sharpening in camera so it is best to add some sharpening to the last pass of CC.
Every codec needs to sacrifice something for compression. Traditionally AVID's compressed codecs kinda suck.
see www.onerivermedia.com codec site to see how bad it fairs against many other 4:2:2 codecs.
David
Although to be fair, the Avid DNxHD codecs are not tested there and the last update to the codecs page was 2004.

Richard
Is it possible we're looking at the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit?
Thanks to everyone! Stella
