  1. #1 16mm lenses for 2k Question - Help
I have a video this Wednesday. Like most music videos, I'll have to do a bit of slo-mo.

Can these lenses cover 2k? Also, does anyone have experience with this and can tell me of any other issues I may run into (vignetting, etc):

    Canon 8-64
    Canon 7-63
    Canon 11-160
    9.5mm Superspeed
    12mm Superspeed
    8mm Standard

They all cover just fine. The RED at 2K is smaller than regular 16mm, so even that 8mm standard will cover no problem.

try to use super 16 instead.
You'll be able shoot in 3K in most part and get crisper image.
Canon zoom is great, so is the zeiss super, 12mm and up.

The 4K width of the 4.5K sensor is 22.11mm wide, so the 2K width is half that, 11.055mm wide.

    16mm is 10.26mm wide but I suspect most 16mm lenses will cover 2K, 11mm isn't much more than 10.26mm.

    Super-16 is 12.52mm wide.

Mitch, you're probably thinking that 2/3" is smaller than regular 16mm.

David, don't just go by width. The diagonal is what's important as this defines the necessary image circle. RED 2K may be wider than 16mm but it is also shorter. 16mm is still bigger so lenses designed for 16mm will cover RED 2K.

    Thanks, Mitch and Steve.

This should be fun. We're shooting mostly 4k except for overcranked. Any pointers for getting the best match. It's for broadcast and we're delivering 1080.

    Hello Steve Gal,
Have you tried either the Canon 7-56 T2.1 at infinity, or the Angenieux 12-120mm T 2.1 at five feet on the Red at 2k?
    Thank you,

Angenieux 12-120mm does vignette some at the wider end of the lens. I have not tried the Canon 7-56 since I haven't had one in my hands in a while.

Thanks for the quick and useful information, Steve, it looks like the Canon and I are going on a road trip to find out for certain.
