    Hi,

Sorry for posting out of sync with what is being discussed but a few weeks ago I looked for some advice here about shooting underwater. I was at the stage of testing where I couldn't get focus underwater. In any case the advice I got from several members here was invaluable to me. I said then that I would post the end video when it was done - here it is!!

This was shot in a 4ft pool so forgive some of the shots. Comments would be gratefully recieved.

Nice video. The underwater shots are with what camera/housing? I didn't see the usually fisheye GoPro look.

Oh, and BTW - would we all just be better off starting a new thread? Just sayin...

    Ron, what model mack truck?

I guess i should have quantified that remark, but yes, as far as i know the only other rig shooting IMAX or Feature Films....which would notably be the Solido. I know 900 has been shot side by side, but not as main camera for IMAX....insert shots i believe.

....all joking aside: two guys can handle this rig from prepping, loading in the boat, launching from the boat, then one operator can run and free swim it to and from shooting location--operate single handed....Much unlike the current Solido rig which requires usually a team of 4 to 5....and a boat with a large hydraulic crane.....so in reality (i speak for myself) it's come a long way from what was the "norm". And surely things will change in next few days, weeks, years and we'll be shooting half this size. But a door is now open that was not open before.

    ....new thread? sounds good here.

LOL, according to the manufacturer it weighs 265 lbs (120 kg)

compared to a Mack truck: 13,000 lbs (5,896 kg)
compared to Solido: 1300 lbs (589 kg)
    compared to 3Deep: 53 lbs (24 kg)
compared to dual DeepX (with wet beam splitter): 50 lbs (22 kg)

so, when it comes to handling, I'd risk an educated guess that it should be somewhere between a Mack truck and the competition :)

One interesting thing that I noticed about the Deep Atom is that it is rated to 100 ft (30m). So, I guess, if it was rated to the same depths as most other housings are, it would be probably a bit closer to a Mack truck.

edit: more than happy for a new thread
