  1. #1 REDcountdown Widget
    Dear REDUSERs,

ever since I joined dvxuser forum, I was wondering what could I do to payback, to contribute with with my little something, for a start, to these two knowledge bases and I'm bringing you my first Widget.

With kind permissions from Jim Jannard and Jarred Land, I'm posting this in hope it will help to further evangelize RED project and even more spread the word about RED camera and RED Team's work all together.

I'll see what I can do in order to make this widget viable for common PC users, since it's been made using Apple's Dashcode and it's for Mac OS X 10.4 and more recent updates.

Actually, I hope this to be only the first of my contributions, in particular if the rest of you approve it downloading the widget and feed back your impressions about it.

Here's a link http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/F...cty=US&lang=en to a Public folder at my idisc where you can choose from .dmg and .zip file to download.

Thank you all very much and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did making it :).

  4. #4 screenshot, what it does and how it works:
    Description:
REDcountdown widget allows you to follow visually the time as it runs towards meeting the NAB announcements.

    Operation:
It is Dashboard type of widget, so it works only on Mac OS X 10.4 and newer.

    Installation:
    Download the widget file.
Decompress the .dmg or .zip file.
Double-click the widget icon. You'll get a window asking if you'd like to install the widget. Click on the 'Install' button.
    That's it. Enjoy!

    Use:
When you have the widget running, a mouse-over will show an "i" button.
Clicking on it will flip the widget.
On the back side there's a done button to close this view when suitable.
    Click on the 'Done' button.
The widget will flip back and show the countdown status.

    Screenshots:
I put them right next to widget compressed files and they can be previewed without the need for downloading. If their weight is not to much, they could be shown in the next message of this thread.

    Downloading link:

    Please preview before downloading:
    Face
    REDface.png (50KB) and

    Back
    REDback.png (104KB)

    Files to download, either:
    REDcountdown.dmg (9.9MB) or
    REDcountdown.zip (552KB) files

    Once decompressed
    REDcountdown.wdgt (836KB)

I hope these high quality screenshots of 20 and 28KB respectively, will not be too much and if so, moderator, please delete this note.

I left them on my Public folder anyhow.

  9. #9 I'm truly flattered
    Thank You people.

This acceptance is flattering. I feel proud for accomplishing rather simple gadget in practically no time, starting from template, for it was the first one coming outta my owen, the same day I started playing with Dashcode, who everyone I faced with characterized of good taste and harvested general approval.

There have been sixty something visits to widget downloading site and over a hundred people got attracted to this thread. I will be waiting for the counter to meet the deadline with the same excitement as if I was a holder of RED reservations.

Possibly my RED will have other model name than ONE, but I trully believe that day will come and in the mean time I hope to fill in with my creative thinking and art those little gaps left behind.

Not everybody gets involved in sensor development or protocol writing or deep coding work. Surely there's a lot of work to be done where many of us, fans and wanna-be-RED-owners, could help. That´s my drive!

    Thank you for paying attention.

    Thanks for the Widget!

I can't wait to try it out.

I downloaded REDcountdown.dmg and when I tried to open it I got a dialog box that says: "Enter password to access files on REDcountdown.dmg."

Is the zip version the same thing? It's much smaller in dl size so i wasn't sure about it but I'll try that to see if it works.
