Ok so I know things change; am counting on it. I know we've been through this many times over, that there is no true release date but the date that releases itself. Speculators and conspiracy theorists be damned. But I got Redligion...

The prospect of August releasing news of some S35 cameras is big. At the very least it brings us one month closer to an enlightened interpretation of "summer/fall 09"

That said: I finally got my Red One audio upgraded and with the new v20 firmware colorspace, realized we're kind of always getting new cameras.

    Always something exciting around here.

"Might" have to wait for cameras a little longer. Big man said they won't have prototypes this time around?

I think Jim's referring to shipping the Red before it was finished and upgrading in the field.

    But I could be wrong...

not gonna see anything for at least 9-12 more months I'm estimating. They just released RED Rocket™, their downconverter, new lenses. RED is growing very fast, and from what I observe, they are trying to design a complete system of workflow now for their cameras. Workflow was what was always lacking with the camera and now its becoming easier, faster and way better. I think the last thing on their mind right now is making new cameras, but making sure that when its time to make new cameras, they have all their ducks lined up. I think we wont see epic x at least until next summer or later. (besides, there is a whole lot of technology that has to be invented before these cameras come out) But thats just my opinion, I may be waaaay off...

Last I checked (5 minutes ago), the official promotional material that they've plastered all over their website says "Summer 2009" for the first Scarlet cameras. We know things are subject to change as always, but they've never modified that date, removed it completely, or chimed in to tell us that they're going to miss it. So just as sure as you are that it's "not gonna happen" for another year, I'd say there's just as good a chance that your intuition is completely off.

No i wish I was tho. Im just being realistic. Look at what they have been making right now and where most of their energy is being spent. RPP, RED rocket, Downconverters ect. Perhaps its not the last thing on their mind, but considering the recent developments in post workflow, I would say that thats been the priority.

RED has established a more recent policy of not discussing technology that isn't ready to be discussed. If the cameras aren't ready yet, they aren't ready. That hardly means they aren't a priority.
