  1. #1 Build 20 = higher frame rates?
Before yesterday I couldn't get more than 30fps in Varispeed mode configured at 3K 16:9 under build 18, 17, etc.

Yesterday after changing to the latest build, 20.1.2, all of a sudden I had access to more than 30fps, infact I could crank it up to 50fps. Momentary insanity or was this feature always there and I didn't know how to access it?

    Either way, I'm happy.

From Red.com, the camera "provides 4K (up to 30 fps), 3K (up to 60 fps) and 2K (up to 120 fps) capture."

What speeds do your cards provide? I seem to remember that the Red is quite demanding on IO-speeds of the CF-cards... so maybe the framerate is capped by the card and not by the camera or its firmware build?

Were you shooting 29.97? If so, you most likely had "open gate" enabled in the VF settings - that will limit your framerate options in varispeed...

    Just a thought,
    Dom.
