hummm....
Now Laptop... have 1TB.... 2TB in a memory stick!
They just announced specs. There's a big difference between telling people the specs of what you plan to make and actually making it.
And then after THAT, you have to figure out how to make it for cheap. I think they're still as far away as they ever were.

2TB in a Duo and Micro is impressive... I am sure they can do it eventually, but are we really at that point yet?? Is the multi-billionaire market that strong these days?
I sat in on a biotechnology seminar at a CMU (Carnegie Mellon University) a few years ago... they talked about making processor chips and different storage devices using organics that would "grow" by sending small electric micro-pulses through the organic matter that would created nano-sized connections. They talked about this being the next step in technology because it is the most cost-effective way to make the electronics smaller and use less energy to operate. Recently, Microsoft or Intel or someone announced that they were pursuing this technology, but that they needed to study it further and were probably 10 years from effectively utilizing it.
When I first heard this, I thought it was absolutely crazy... but it seems that this is the direction that technology will go. Can you imagine what could come of this technology? I am sure that they could eventually "grow" a human brain-sized storage device that incorporates hundreds of nano-processors that can almost act and "think" like a real person. Maybe I am crazy for saying it out loud... but you know you are thinking the same thing.
Sorry if I have rambled on too far with this post.

Even if they could build these, they are targeting a minimum guaranteed write speed of 15 Mbps. Much too slow for Red footage.
So, even at maximum declared transfer rates (60 & 20 MB/s) faster cards would need 9 hrs and slower 27 hrs...
