Conform Avid EDL in Apple Color 1.5

Hello altogether

We shot a short film on red 4k 16/9 25p.
We are editing in Avid. The shots were converted to DNxHD on Metafuze and Redrushes.

We plan to do the color grading in Apple Color.

I made a few short tests exporting a CMX3600 EDL from Avid and importing into Color. With earlier Color versions I often had the problem, that shots which had the same filename in the EDL due to 8 character limit were not found by Color.
(16 char EDLs don't work in Color)

I made a new test with Color 1.5. Just some edits and two R3D files with the same 8 character filename in the EDL. And this time it worked. Color relinked to the R3D media with no problems.

Is this an improvement in new Color 1.5 or just a coincidence?

Has anyone of you made experiences with a similar workflow on a longer project? Please let me know. I will test with a longer sequence and more shots as soon as our editing has come further.

I'm just setting up my new grading suite with the plans to mainly conform using Final Cut Projects, but am allowing for the option to conform Avid MC stuff as I expect to get some Avid stuff over the next year or so.

Just purchased FCS3 but haven't had a chance to install and use it as mid-project.

How does Color 1.5 differ when it comes to conforming from Avid in comparrison to 1.0?

Is there a noticable improvement with recards to it re-onnecting to media files?
