Like the rest of you, I've been reading the "OMG it's like a new camera!" threads and thought, well I'm not seeing it...
But yesterday I saw the (low) light! I was doing staging and camera tests for show I'm shooting at the Sydney Opera House tonight (5 Reds) and couldn't believe the results!
Using B20.1.3 shooting ISO800 under 4000k lighting. Ask me to do this 3 weeks ago and I would have turned the job down as the noise would be unacceptable.
Back at the studio I brought the image up to 1280 in Rocket Cine X and still couldn't see a noise problem, but the image was so damn bright and clear it hurt my eyes and I had to turn it down!
Add to this seeing and grading in real time using RED Rocket™™™, as well as exporting my test clip in real time, and I am one happy Red owner.
Have a look at the attachments (keep in mind they are JPEG), including the blue channel, which is the cleanest I've ever seen, no lumps!
And remember, this is ISO800 in a very challenging environment. On previous shoots, this is what 320 at 5000k looks like on a good day.
I know these shots and I can guarantee, if I shot this with build 17 I would be in trouble.
Thanks for pushing the limits Jim and team, now I feel like I can get on with my work without feeling I'm on the ledge!

All the best,
