23.98 footage for a 29.97 EDL Monkey Extract

Ok we have recieved an EDL for a short film shot on Red. The EDL is all 29.97 whilst the original rushes are 23.98. Not sure if they have made the rushes 29.97 for their edit if so how or if they have added 3:2 in offline. Either way ME cannot reverse the pull down to match the clips. Has anyone run into this and have any solutions.

Was this off-lined on FCP? Chances are they cut the 23.976 media onto a 29.97 timeline. If you convert the EDL first with Cinema tools you may be able to pull a valid 23.976 EDL out of what they sent you. Why they worked this way is uncertain, but probably not necessary. I would ask them to send you a 23.976 EDL so they can check it against their timeline.
