I also booked at the Best Western Mardi Gras where I have stayed 2 times before for NAB. It is a "budget" hotel so keep your expectations low. Its got beds, showers and not much else. The location is great, especially if you don't want to rent a car or wait in long taxi lines. The price is nice, more money for lenses!

Renaissance.. I love that hotel. I have stayed there a couple of times. Very nice. Would love to come an see the demo's. especialy on Scratch... I am lucky I got a condo down here so that nice. Only bad party is having to drive to the convention center but if you know what way to go its not to bad.

    Thanks a lot Rob&Rocketeer!
I just bought my plane tickets to stay there untill Thrusday night and then a looong week-end with my girl in NYC!
I make kind of extensive search for the hotel an finally I reserved The Stratosphere, the only one next to the NAB that I can find for something less than a 100$/night. I don't consider it a cheap hotel but Mardi Grass fares are now around 125$/night.

    Ciao

Mardi Grass is pretty good. Easy to walk to the convention center (and thus pretty close to the strip). Convention center also has a monorail stop.

Another thing I'd like to encourage everyone to do is go up on the Stratosphere tower (last stop [Sahara hotel] on the monorail) IN THE EVENING when it's dark. It's an incredible view seeing all the lights of the city. When you reach the top level with the elevator make sure you take the stares further up so you can stand outside!!

Finally, do the space shot attraction on top of the tower. It would shoot you another 30 ft (10 m) or something in the air. You feel weightless for a bit and get a complete silent look over the city. It's just awesome, I did that ride four times in a row. Don't bother with the "roller coaster".

You don't have to be afraid of heights in the space shot since you cannot look down or over an edge. You just look into the distance and be mesmerized by all the lights.

    Highly recommended!

I had a dream last night: It was at NAB, JJ holded up a big number with the 222: my RED. I floated over to him with tears in my eyes, picking up my new RED and went out to the thousands of lights on the Vegasstrip, shooting my first images to compare them with the ones I shot on 35mm ears ago. :):):):)

Completely silent? Man, I was screaming/swearing my guts out! :D

Add to the Don't Bother List: The roller coaster at the New York New York. Avoid it unless you have an in-law who's a chiropractor.
