As it turns out this little project is going to be projected onto a big screen. If I knew this in advance I would've shot at higher resolution. Unfortunately I didn't know... so the footage was shot on the HPX-170 DvcPro HD 720 P/n (ouch).

So now I'm trying to get the most out of this footage....

I'd like to "up-convert" the 720P dvcpro footage to Apple Pro Res 1920X1080... but I'm not sure if this process will actually deliver any noticeable gains in quality?

My gut instinct is "garbage in garbage out"... but I know there are some programs like "instant hd" (or others) that might do fairly high quality up conversions. I do have a Kona 3 card with all it's codecs... I don't know that would help ?

What are my best bets here? Any insight or experience would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you: )

It's not that big of a deal.

I'll open a new account with me real name... I just don't post here all that much (more as of recently) so I should change.

Try Purifier, it's not only a noise reducer, but a pretty good upscaler too.

My Red is called Vertov after a Russian avantgarde filmmaker, a pioneer in modern cinematography, a true revolutionary who later suffered under Stalin's bureaucracy.
