  1. #1 THE RIFT - 20min Doorpost finalist film
Recently, I played the protagonist's wife Maggie on 'THE RIFT' by the 'On the Lot' director Brent McCorkle. It was all shot on the RED competing as a finalist in The Doorpost Film Competition.

You can watch our film here:
    http://www.thedoorpost.com/hope/The%20Rift/

'The Rift' was 95% night shoots, shot in TX in the same woods 'Friday the 13th' was shot. The DP was Tom Callaway from 'On The Lot' and 'Project Greenlight' and his rigs for these night shoots were spectacular. This was the director Brent's first film to shoot on the RED! He is such a genuine guy who is soooo passionate about this story's subject he wrote.

    About 'The Rift'
"The Rift" is a story about Jude Garrison (played by Jackson Walker - 'The Great Debaters', 'The Final Destination') who wakes up in a strange and horrible place where the sun never shines. Darkness, painful memories, and despair prevail. He fears that he has gone to Hell, and that he will be forever separated from his beloved wife, Maggie (played by Jenn Gotzon - Pres. Nixon's daughter in 'Frost/Nixon', 'Stained'). Things begin to change when he stumbles upon an eight-year-old girl named Nadia (introducing Abigail Monet). Is there a way out? Is there any hope in this place?

About the The Doorpost Film Project:
It's in its 2nd year. They've selected 10 film finalists, gave the filmmakers $30K to make a 20min short about the topic 'hope'. The best film about 'hope' wins $100K (based on votes which voting ends Sept 16).

To vote: you have to watch the 10 finalist films. I do believe several of them were shot on the RED.. Majority of them are fantastic stories!

Hope you like the film (my role was small, but the RED footage rocks!!)

Jenn, wow. Thanks for letting us know about the film. Incredible work especially given the low budget, and some of the other challenges the film faced. Fantastic RED images, kudos to the DP and gaffer. Performances were outstanding, Abigail seems like she's just born to act.

I wish you and the filmmakers best of luck. Based on what I saw, The Drift is award worthy.

woah. I just finished watching the 10 films so I could vote for Butterfly Circus since one of the actors in it is one of my best friends.

Wow...that film took me on a trip I wasn't expecting! You tied with my favorite film, but this one I will never forget. Thanks!

(You can really tell which shorts are shot on Red without even seeing the logo in the credits. Great low light performance was shown in this film).

Great job, Jenn. The cast was perfect. Really liked Jackson. He reminds me of Bruce Boxleitner in his young days. The whole atmosphere is great. :-)

    Cheers,

I agree. We're really starting to see the potential of RED. More importantly, we're starting to see the potential of filmmakers who are now getting their hands on exceptional tools that allow them to tell their stories. To me, these films such as The Rift and The Butterfly Circus (the two I have watched so far, both shot on RED) represent exactly what Jim was trying to do when he started this company.
