pretty interesting. I noticed alot of indie filmmakers are submitting their old projects to qualify. \

what do you all think of this?

I would submit a project or two but you lose rights to anything submitted to the show, so forget it.
I think that's why they don't have really good projects on the site; no one wants to lose the rights to something they put a lot of work into.

Justin is right. They can take your concept, make a feature out of it and pay you nothing. That's even if you just enter the contest....not even winning.
I know how to do it. You just wouldn't know it from the way I do it.

Sadly, most such contests work this way. :(

I think it will be FUN to watch but as a contestant, I don't know...

It is a show that is on the FOX network so i wonder how much censorship on their part will take place

Plus, I honestly don't think they're going to pick the 16 best filmmakers in the world..

They are going to pick that kid from Arkansas with his Super8 camera, the young opressed girl living in Bejing, the NYC film student, the struggling LA filmmaker with two kids, etc.

If you could measure who was the best of the best right now, undiscovered, and they were all living in Los Angeles, onthelot would only pick maybe 2 of them -

This is all speculative but remember, this is the guy who made Survivor

I tried looking at all of the films but gave up after struggling through about 10 of them....
Did anyone see anything worth a shit?

no. And I honestly think people aren't submittin because of the rights loss issues. If I have something that I think might be good enough to submit to the show chances are that I've invested too much blood, sweat, tears to want to give it away like that.

It's a reality show. They need drama to keep the ratings up. All the strings will be pulled to create that drama. With that in mind, I'll probably watch the first episode just to see if I'm right...;)

I'll watch it with a sad heart, because if the same fate awaits these contestants that befell the contestants on Project Greenlight, this will do more damage than good for their careers.

Yeah, that's too bad because I think John Gulager has talent. Perhaps Feast wasn't the best vehicle for him. I think some of his problems also arose from the fact that he was something of a shrinking violet. But he knew what he wanted.
