I just want to know one thing..

The last shot of the camel in the desert, Was that shot using a small remote helicopter cam?, a ballon cam?, a long line hung space cam?, a 1000 foot crane on a dolly??????
    I NEEDS TO NO.... Please.

It's such a fantastic tracking shot.

It seemed a bit long. Aren't there 7,000 of these cameras out there? Looked like the work of less than a dozen DPs.
Pretty stuff, guess I just expected a huge variety of pretty stuff when I saw the length of the dragbar at the bottom of the screen. How many times do we need to cut back to GreenDay to remember it's still them?

I found this particular shot truly amazing:

Who shot this? Who was the DP? Which film?

The other shot from the same movie after this (the tilt down) is also great.

    Hi Caesare,

I've seen the promos (and dozens of billboards in Los Angeles) so I'm aware of this film. I agree, the look is perfect for this one. But so many of the images I've seen made by RED and other electronic cameras look like CAD drawings that I was starting to get worried that's all these cameras are capable of producing. (I mean, the Knowing trailer looks like a Maya rendering. No, wait, Maya renderings have better skin tones, LOL.) Turns out, as evidenced by the camel shot at the end of the reel, that that's not the case.

I have seen the same thing in the stills world since the digital takeover, people tend to go overboard with the sliders in the RAW processing IMO. Not my taste, but it's good to know you can get so many looks from one camera.

BTW there is one guy in particular who posts here, MaGregor, who seems to be able to get a really beautiful image out of RED One. At some point I'll actually get around to using a RED and seeing for myself.

I wouldn't say that's because of digital cameras.

More like digital post production trends.

Transformers was shot on film and yet has agressive CC and sharpy image.

And I love the camel shot as well... if you think it looks good on your computer screen with the H.264 compression, or in 2k at IBC you should see it in 4k! Perhaps the next time we screen it large venue we will be able to screen it in 4k instead of 2k... It it absolutely stunning to see it in all it's glory!

    Hi Ted,
just like the one we had at Reducation. In 4k Red stuff is amazing.

    Yeah, that was pretty bad...

And a close-up with deep focus. Very weird shot IMO.
