By far, the Camel footage was the most compelling and interesting shot of the whole bunch. Good reel, but I was just about to turn it off prematurely, until the Camel showed up.. then I had to watch it a second time.

My thoughts exactly.

The first stuff was well shot--amazing action, but it all had that greasy, plastic, blue-green, over-sharpened video-game look that everyone seems to be going for these days. I like Green Day, but a little too much of that, too. But the last sequence, wow, I was really impressed. Just beautiful. I think it really shows the range of the camera's capability.

Hello All,

Great to hear a lot of you got to see the new reel on the big screen... I hope the projectionists set up the screen masking properly to take full advantage of that Giant wide-screen at IBC, since we did a 240 finish of it specific to showing it as big as possible.

Some of you were asking about who shot that camel footage (which I agree is stunning) I hope you all got a chuckle out of the camel noises...

My good friend Arnaud from Paris, and his company LocaRED was responsible for the camel footage we used for the credits, and the aerial work was done by a company called Soulcam.

In our rush to get it out the door, the thing we focused on the least were the proper qc of the crediting - we need to re-visit that now that we made the IBC deadline to make sure we got everyone (a huge thank you to Philippe from Camalot in Amsterdam for downloading it and getting the DCP to Jim, just in the nick of time to show it for everyone)

Thanks for all the good thoughts - one unintended upside is I now have more time to read the forums and occasionally respond :-) (I'll do my best to not sound like a total idiot on here - I'm much more comfortable speaking than typing)

And I love the camel shot as well... if you think it looks good on your computer screen with the H.264 compression, or in 2k at IBC you should see it in 4k! Perhaps the next time we screen it large venue we will be able to screen it in 4k instead of 2k... It it absolutely stunning to see it in all it's glory!
