What solutions has everyone come up with to get timecode out to the directors monitor?

With EVF and LCD on, they only get framing not timecode and menus. I don't want to get menus but I do have to get them timecode.

One option that I've found is to get a monitor from TVlogic that displays the timecode from the HDSDI signal. Other option is a separate Timecode reader for window burn in (or separate clock).
The trick is to know what button to push when.

I'v also found this really annoying. I seriously don't understand why the timecod only can be output when using either the EVF or the LCD, not when using both at the same time. Maybe this is something that will be possible in a future bulid?

Will not be possible on future builds. It's a hardware issue.
I love telling the DP or focus puller we have to lose the eyepiece/EVF at the start of the shoot:-(
Epic will have 3 seperate assigned outs I believe...

Use an HD-SDI monitor with build in timecode reader. Problem solved.

Timecode is one thing.... but to read the correct clip number and roll is in my opinion more significant at our productions..... so that the script can write and check the correct correlation between scene number and filename on the script when they get it then afterwords in the edit room....

cool, jam sync has to be off. I wonder if that affects multi camera shoots. for instance if I had a lockit box would i not be able to view the timecode?

... I don't have any in house at the moment but can one untick jam sync once the time code has been input, but what of leaving the box on the camera?

Aha! so the plot thickens. Seems I can only get Timecode (free run) on the monitor, even when the camera is set to Edgecode (record run)

Anyone know how to get edgecode up on a 1710?
