  1. #1 Redmote question
As I understand it, the battery in the Redmote isn't user-replaceable. Does that mean the unit would have to be returned for a new battery? Or is it more likely that it's not easily user-replaceable?

Nothing is impossible if you don't care about a warranty.

I'm sure you won't have to replace the battery but once every few years, so it's not like it'll be that big a deal.

Not for people live near RED authorized service centres.

It'll be a big deal for me and lots of international customers.

What's so bad about user replaceable anyway?

I'm pretty handy with a screwdriver and a soldering iron, so if the battery is something that's commonly available, I wouldn't have a problem replacing it on my own. That is, of course, if the case isn't permanently sealed.

Does anyone know what type of battery is being used? Just curious.

To make it small enough I think they had to put the battery in a place that made it not user replaceable.

You could always buy or rent a 2nd REDmote while yours is in the shop.

It's not like the RED Mote size is such a critical factor.

Make it an inch thicker and let us replace those batts!

I'm sure it won't have to become a brick to allow us that.

That's the point Pietro! As I'm living in Austria I have the same concerns. Where's the problem to build it recharchable? Not much bigger, needs only mini plug and we're goin' ..........

Just to put this discussion into a perspective.

I am using my laptop every single day, been using it for over a year now. Been using my iPhone for almost three years now, charging it pretty much 1 - 2 times a day (heavy use).

In other words: unless you are going to use your Redmote 24/7, there will be quite a while before a battery replacement becomes necessary - if ever.
