As I understand it, the battery in the Redmote isn't user-replaceable. Does that mean the unit would have to be returned for a new battery? Or is it more likely that it's not easily user-replaceable?

Nothing is impossible if you don't care about a warranty.

I'm sure you won't have to replace the battery but once every few years, so it's not like it'll be that big a deal.
I'm pretty handy with a screwdriver and a soldering iron, so if the battery is something that's commonly available, I wouldn't have a problem replacing it on my own. That is, of course, if the case isn't permanently sealed.
Does anyone know what type of battery is being used? Just curious.
It's not like the RED Mote size is such a critical factor.
Make it an inch thicker and let us replace those batts!
I'm sure it won't have to become a brick to allow us that.

Just to put this discussion into a perspective.
I am using my laptop every single day, been using it for over a year now. Been using my iPhone for almost three years now, charging it pretty much 1 - 2 times a day (heavy use).
In other words: unless you are going to use your Redmote 24/7, there will be quite a while before a battery replacement becomes necessary - if ever.
