Your post was not clear about what Elgato product you are talking about, especially for people who don't know Elgato's products.

the new turbo 264hd is a wonderfull product, especially if you use it on a macbookpro.
But for RED encoding, i think its better first to calculate a 720p 1/4res prores LT/proxy with clipfinder or redrushes - if possible on a MacPro- and use this as the start for the turbo encodings, as the turbo only makes faster h264 encodings. In this way you only need only to decode once your RED files and use them multiple for different h264 encodings : computer/AppleTV/iPod/iPhone/Vimeo/Youtube
