That is kinda funny...
Final Cut Extreme is not new news though... It was actually mentioned by Apple as a "possibility" last year. But any pricing is all speculative at this point. I'm guessing that Final Cut Extreme will be a turn-key product if it's intended to compete with Avid. In other words, you pay $10K or more, but you get a tailored Mac Pro and XServe RAID setup along with the software. I don't see Apple offering a software package alone for that kind of money. Especially since they have been slashing prices on all their pro apps this past year - Shake down to $500, Final Cut Pro now bundled with all the studio apps for $1200, etc..
With a statement like this:
"Sources note that Apple's Final Cut Extreme announcement will coincide with Red's upcoming 4K digital cinema camera, a revolutionary piece of equipment that is said will be priced upwards of $200,000. Pricing for Final Cut Extreme is said to be similarly up-market, approaching $10,000 a seat, and will require the latest hardware from Apple."
How reliable do you really believe their rumor is?
It's funny how uninformed the people are about RED. A lot of the comments about it are really stupid.
Look at the date on the rumor..."January 4th 2006"
I thought it was this year... Well, that explains a lot.Look at the date on the rumor..."January 4th 2006"
I think it is a typo of $20,000
Ha! I didn't catch the year either...
I just kept thinking the Final Cut Extreme rumor is old news... Hehe.
