We will create another option for you to consider on the 30th.

Jim- This is even better news!! Because I've only had my RED ONE for a short time, and am already so attached to it and never want to part with it! :-)

RED already has changed this industry -- now it's even ok for guys to express their feelings ;)

Would love to hold on to our beloved 3971; still have an Arri ST and a PD100...

Depending on RED's fiscal year it might push their taxes to this year rather than next, but it sure would be nice for us out here to get that tax savings.
In the US, accelerated depreciation deduction can only happen in the year in which the equipment is put into service. It is not enough to simply pay for it... you also have to have taken delivery, to take the deduction. It doesn't matter if you file on an accrual or cash basis, as the rules for capital equipment are pretty much the same either way. (I am not an accountant, but I am rather sure that this statement is correct.)

But why? Yes I am fond of that old piece of junk that made me money.
Now I want that new thing! I want to spend that money!
And in Denmark we only pay 65% income tax!

    Hey Jim,

I know you can't give a definitive answer on this just yet, but how about rewarding the early Red One adopters by going in order the camera's were RECEIVED, not just going in order of serial number??

I know a lot of people early on were taking advantage of your 6 month grace period, but why should they get the opportunity over someone else who committed from the get-go? Just wondering...

while we're talking about options. I'd put in a request for the "totally broke but want an EPIC" option which is upgrading at a reduced cost to the X brain by omitting the battery and I/O modules (I can use the bricks from my R1 and most of my recording is in the field so I don't need I/O imminently)... just putting it out there...

Would I be wrong in assuming that October 30 is the cut off date for buying a Red One and taking advantage of the Epic-x upgrade?
