Mysterium X vs Mysterium X Select Sensor

Whats the difference in these? Has this been talked about yet?

It was talked about briefly some time ago, although not in any significant detail.

I believe that the "Select" versions are Mysterium-X sensors that are hand picked from the batch to have the best noise characteristics.

Any semiconductor batch has some variation in the parts produced. These will be the pick of the litter.

(And no, before somebody gets paranoid, that doesn't mean that other people buying non-select versions might get the "bottom of the barrel". It means that ALL parts meet the threshold for the required performance specifications. Some parts may exceed that spec, and might be considered premium.

Intel does this with CPU's... they design them to run at 3.0Ghz.... however some parts in a batch may test out OK at 3.2, so Intel will mark them as such and charge you more for them. )

That's a good comparison, Steven. The process to which you are referring is called "binning." In keeping with your semiconductor theme, memory manufacturers will do this as well.
