I can't imagine it being a year for the fixed lens scarlet, no way, no how. That's really pessimistic. If they're doing at all well on it, they are ironing out details, hopefully, that will make it ready out of the box, which is what it sounds like to me, and that's one reason for the delay.

I would certainly hope it will be available no later than six months from now. I am not sure what workflow I'll go with or camera for my feature if they can't get the S35 out in time. I was aiming to shoot July 1, 2010. We'll see what happens. I'd be ok with using a RED One of course too, but would rather not. I'd rather just own the camera.

The actual Sensor is adjustable on multiple axis... no more shimming or adjusting the mounts :)

I'm diggin' the RED STATION. Does it come just like we see in the render or is it the Station base unit (on the bottom) and we stack or daisy-chain multiple media modules to fit our needs?

No one is saying anything about "Red Station"!! Is that the answer to a DIT IO solution?

Forgive the question, as if it was specifically said before it passed me by :)

There is no upgrade path to the Epic 645?? Meaning if a RED ONE owner wants to wait for the release of the Epic 645 to upgrade its R1 to IT can He not Make good on Stage TWO or Stage Three??

Or this Stages are only for the Epic-X?!?

At some point I think someone Red has to commit what the Scarlet is. It can't do everything. And so be it. No one is going to say no to new features but you do the best you can, offer what you can and stick by it. I don't want a 2015 camera announced in 2010 to be delivered in 2015. I want the best 2010 camera.

It also feels like people who didn't get the Red will be punished for it. This feels like a sorority. I am waiting for some kind of initiation. Is it really so hard for a new user to get a new product without being told how much they lack in commitment because they weren't there in the very first stages?
i am sure everyone here is upset that we don't have that concrete release date but i'll argue for red here because they are really breaking down barriers here by trying to give consumers a product for 1/10th of the cost of it's nearest competition. the red one is available today, or you could go buy a sony f35 for 200k.

The 5-way sensor adjust does that instead of shimming.

am I the only one flipping out about what jim is including for us RED owners? Some fantastic freebies in there for almost every option. He's really rewarding us early adopters.

    thanks jim
