Sure this will be all answered on Nov 30th but I can't help myself...
Will the fixed lens be threaded for screw on filters or will I need to buy a mattebox. Matteboxes are nice but attract to much attention to shooting when I use, lets call it, creative permiting.
Looking forward to the touch screen focusing, sounds really useful for those of us with a skeleton crew.
Can't wait till the 30th, and the date scarlet is open for deposits, and the date it ships, and the date I get it, and.... you get the point. Just happy that at least one camera company thinks broke indy filmmakers deserve more then h.264, jello, and aliasing.

Jim: love the announcement details, stages, specs, and prices...wicked cool stuff for sure :)
I would guess (and hope) the fixed lens Scarlet and the RED Electronic Lenses will be threaded for screw-on filters. To keep weight and bulk down, and for low-profile guerilla shooting, a lot of super-mobile shooters don't use matte boxes - in fact I don't even own a matte box, even though I own multiple RED One cameras. I simply don't need a MB for my styles of work...
Rofl look at this clown. this was on egadget concerning the recent announcement. I DID NOT MAKE THIS STATEMENT
I guarantee that the F23 and F35s perform better than the Epic. There's a reason the CineAltas cost that much. The CCDs in the F35 are stripped from a much higher resolution sensor - so it records at 1080p - but it is very close to film's dynamic range.
Once again, resolution isn't everything - let's not forget. You can buy a 12 megapixel camera for $400 and it won't compare to a $5,000 Nikon D3.
Yes, David, you're right. As a pro (I'm assuming), the additional cost of Scarlet isn't that big of a deal for you. That just means a few extra jobs to pay it off. Meanwhile for me, $3K was a stretch, $4K - $8K is impossible. I totally get where the pros are coming from on this, and I don't disagree. As I said in my original post, it's just no longer a camera built for me. Jim's original concept for Scarlet was much more open to the masses (hence the dreaded 'soccer mom' comment.) Alas, it's no longer built for that market. But maybe someday Scarlet Jr. will come along and surprise the rest of us who don't have deep pockets (or a way to work off the expenses).
This is big news for me, as I am considering 4x4" matte box shopping... this means a Genus matte box will work for what I have now, and the fixed 2/3" Scarlet in the future.
The only question is what the RED matte box will be. Any chance it will take 4x4" filters? I'm assuming it would take filters larger than that, but hoping it would have the option of different, smaller size, filter trays.
I know it wasn't mentioned by Jim, but that would make the deal closer to Stage II.
