So is this a fact then? That the start-up time is nearly instantaneous? Guys over at Red, you have the prototypes right now. Are they starting up quick?

Longtime lurker here. I am a prosumer who does nature photography, and who wants to get started capturing video footage. Have lots of money already invested in Canon, so obviously have been considering the 5D II and 7D. But disappointed in the 600 line resolution and aliasing on these cameras due to the line skipping or whatever it is they are doing on the sensor. The Red One and Epic-X plus accessories are priced out of my league, but they are clearly made for the pro cinematographer market so that is OK. I just wanted to let you know that with the announcements today, you have shown that your are doing all the right things for your existing customers, so you are a company I want to do business with. And you have revealed enough about the Scarlet 2/3" interchangeable and Scarlet S35 that they are very appealing to me. Obviously Scarlet plus accessories will cost much more than a 5D II or 7D, but the info available on the specs justifies the extra cost.
You have at least one future customer now saving money for a Scarlet S35 and Scarlet 2/3" interchangeable brain (for high-rez wide-angle shallow-DoF, and slow motion respectively). I am looking forward to the next announcement on Nov 30th to learn more about the systems. I think you will do good volume on these cameras once they are available.
Will using a lower resolution result in a cropped sensor as it does with the R1?
To Jim, or/and anyone else of the staff !
First thanks for your job and the announcement !

We're purchasing a Red in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone know if there is options for upgrade to the M-X s35 (30mmX15mm) imager? I want to make sure we can move up to the Epic when they are released. Any insight and help is appreciated.

I saw the disclaimer for the Oct. 29th owner deadline and wondered if Reds purchased after would also have option for trade/upgrade... thanks again!
i believe Red posted a few weeks ago that if you didn't own a Red NOW ..( my translation) you might be kicking yourself in the buttocks in the future ( as in by the Oct 30 announcement) ..
"Anyone who buys a new RED ONE or a used RED ONE and transfers ownership after yesterday... will be able to trade it in for $17,500 credit on an EPIC-X Brain ONLY (STAGE Four)."
IMO it translates = you buy a Redone Aug 29,2009 or after that date , you get 17,500 on trade in... you are trading it in on the EPIC-X brians only ( your 28k EPIC-X Brain is NOT a package = no modules, no batts, no lcd , no etc.) ...
One thing I like in my Red1 is that I can attach my red drive at the back of it... And slide it backwards until it counterbalances the weight of a big/huge telephoto lens... I can't see anyway to do so in those renders... looks all cleaner and nicer, but how do we use the red 1 drive, and how about balance with a lighter camera body (unless we want to use a heavy cheese plate) ? I know.. mean and practical, but I'm shooting wildlife, and I'm not alone here doing so...
