I think it was said that you can upgrade/get your $17.5K credit, but not the Tattoo, or option 1 or 2. Those are reserved for the early adopters, even those who adopted a Red as late as yesterday:)

so you have an upgrade path, and it is basically the same or better than what was offered before, just not one of the 3 other options that he divulged today.
    Epic-X #1763, "Phase III"
Ti PL & Canon EOS mounts, suite of EOS glass, O'Connor 1030 & 515 support available for rent & shooting.

In addition to this, he says that owners have only 30 days from "official notification" to decide which option, after which you forfeit your upgrade allowance.

    Is today the "official notification?"

He says owners have one month to DECIDE on your stage option, removing any implication that he's referring to the notification of order readiness, which would be after you've already "decided" on your stage option.

i think the two 30 day rules (choosing your option and then paying up once shipping) make sense, or else us poor non red1 owners who have the money ready and waiting will keep getting our place in the queue pushed back everytime another red1 owner decides to order, this could go on and on.

This way all the red one guys get the rewards and loyalty bonus both in terms of what you get for your money (incredible) and your priority, but once those 30 days are up after shipping the rest of us guys will be fairly treated and will then be able to get on the witing list by power of actually having the money to spend. After all they do want to sell to those who have money...and in order to keep the price down, they do need volume sales. its not like ferrari more like audi (and i mean in terms of marketing product placement and positioning, not quality).

My only concern as a non r1 owner is to do with accessories. Imagine spending 28k on just the brain and then being on the bottom of the list for accesories when the the people who are top of the list will already have a fully working kit due to their great loyalty deal. I think to be fair they should only sell the brain to new customers like me if they can guarantee to also ship the ordered accessories with it at least for the vitals.

Where the heck in the heat sink in that brain?

Is this camera really going to run MUCH cooler than the RED one?

I believe the heat will flow out of the exhaust vents that are visible on top of the Brain. Just make sure you don't cover up those bad boys, or you can bet that the EPIC/Scarlet will not cool better than the R1 :P

    Looking at the NEW REDCINE-X.

Nice. a lot smoother interface and the mouse wheel works much better on the image sliders . A lot more responsive too. Optimized the code a bit?

The fan intake is on the front of the brain and the exhaust is in fact the vents on the top.
    cheers
