That I do agree with you... but not on camera.

The majority of shock mounts made specifically for actually mounting shotguns onto cameras have shoes :)

I never understood people mounting large-badass studio shotguns with hardcore mounts to cameras, it just seems like an oxymoron to me... but then again, I am by no means an audio guy. To me, it would be like putting a 5/8" Baby pin up there to mount a 4' kino.

Regardless.. if you use the Epic Top Mount.. there is a nice 3/8 16 threaded hole there for you to use as you may :)

In regards to Jarred saying no one has noticed something about the render with the gunner and lens combo, here's what I noticed:

In a picture showing an Epic X as near as I can tell, with what appears to be one of Red's upcoming FF electronic lenses, there's.... no mount in the picture!!

Are we looking at a fixed lens Epic?! Or is it something else entirely and the render is just that of the fixed lens Scarlet?

    Cheers,

    Paul

I would have thought the fixed model is more likely to carry its initial cost to potential 2nd hand buyers. Theres always someone new wanting to break into filmmaking with an entry level model, and those guys are usually on a much tighter budget than most. (and hence more willing to go 2nd hand)

I could then sell the second body to offset the cost of the $24,000 but how much is a Red one after this announcement date going to be worth? How can we know? Anybody have any ideas?
Thats a good point, I wonder if the R1 will hold much of its resale value after the Epics launch.

    Hi,

Red seem to be valuing cameras at $8,500 for the purpose of STAGE 2, expect less than that when Scarlet S35 hits the shelves.

Yeah... i just went back and read the cards in the announcement... aside from being hard to read (the text is fairly small on my screen).... 15 bit output?

Just a feedback about this announcement...

I really enjoy to see that all is going well...But I'm a bit disapointed about the Scarlet announcement. Like many other, I m waiting to spent my money toward this jewel, but I've read thre will be an increasement of the price, unclear schedule...Well, more time to save money.

About the Epic program, I really hope that Red won't become an elite thing... As an european, I can say that we are many young directors, as I am, waiting for the little beast called Scarlet...Quite affordable for the right tool, we are ready to paint the whole short film market in Red... But where is it, for what price ? I hope that the Scarlet won't gone with the wind, opposite the Epic.

    Just a thought, frightened one...
