What is the difference between the Pro I/O Module vs Base I/O Module for the Epic? I cant find any technical details on these modules or any of the others. Does this info. presently exist and if so where the hell is it? Thankyou

Well, this isn't going to be everything, but here is a post from Jarred that might help you a bit:

The biggest difference is Audio.. The Pro I/O has Digital Audio inputs, Plus it has full size XLR Audio Outputs ( no audio output on the base I/O ), and an additional AUX power output.

I'd be interested in knowing this, too. RED has done a fabulous deal for Stage 2, but the way I see it, 95% of people are going to want the Pro I/O module. So, why put the base module in that package? Honestly, I would rather pay an additional upgrade fee to bypass getting the base module and instead get the pro module. I wonder if RED is considering this?

All of this is said with very limited information on the differences between the two. Maybe someone from RED can clarify a bit. I would just hate the total waste that will be caused if they send out 3,000 base modules as part of that package that don't get used.

I agree, I have a couple of things that never get use from my base R1 pkg that just sit and collect dust. (that base plate that was never to be used as a base plate)

So Red folks, how about just saving us all the time and you all the dumb questions of "can I trade my base mod for the pro mod and pay the diff"

That would seem to be a sensible option.

Is there an HDSDI output on the base I/O module?

Here is what I have gathered so far. All is subject to change...

    Pro I/O Module $2950
The PRO I/O module will support up to 4 channels of AES-EBU digital audio and will be compatible with mixers like the Sound Devices 552.

The maximum number of recorded audio channels is 4, so enabling two or four AES-EBU inputs disables the corresponding analog audio input(s).

The Base I/O Module does not include the AES-EBU digital audio inputs. There is a Word Clock out pin in the same connector that ingests the AES/EBU digital audio.

Single and dual link HD-SDI with Full size BNC.
    Full size XLR Audio Outputs
    Full size XLR Audio Inputs
    Two Aux power/GPIO ports.
    Lens/RS232
    Timecode input/output.

    Base I/O Module $1750
Single and dual link HD-SDI with Full size BNC.
    Mini-XLR Audio Inputs
    One Aux power/GPIO
    Lens/RS232
    Timecode input/output.

No audio output on the Base I/O module.

    i vote for upgrade option.

i never used the baseplate too. i only use the arris style baseplate.
but i think that a lot of people will be happy to just get the base I/O, remember, the modules are for scarlet and epic and not everybody is doing high end stuff.

Sounds like the base I/O module is very similar to the RED One. Unless I'm missing something.
