Red rental in Japan

Visceral Psyche Films, based in Tokyo, Japan, will have four Red One camera packages available for rental on a staggered release schedule beginning in November for the first package.

We anticipate having our second camera in December, with two more to follow in early 2008.

Each camera package will include the following items at a minimum:

• Red One Digital Cinema Camera (body)
• Red 18-50mm Close Focus Zoom (PL mount)
• Electronic Viewfinder (EVF)
• LCD Display (LCD)
• Power Pack (charger plus 2x 140Whr Li-Ion batteries)
• RedDrive Digital Magazine (320GB) x2
• Red CompactFlash Adaptor
• CompactFlash Card (8GB) x2
• SD Card (for storing camera settings, LUTs etc.)
• RedRail Premium Production Pack (full rail set with handles and plates)
• Matte Box
• Follow Focus Kit
• Tripod (head and one set of long legs)
• Camera operator/DIT (digital imaging technician with laptop for transferring footage, altering LUT settings on set, etc.)

You should do well with those packages Paul. I think you've included a good combination of equipment in them. If you're first to offers RED packages there, and get the word out thoroughly, you should do really well. Good luck with that!

We have locked down our rental price structure, as follows:

Daily Rate JPY 175,000
Weekly Rate JPY 1,000,000
Monthly Rate JPY 3,500,000

Each camera package will include the following items (note the change to only one HDD and additional CompactFlash cards from the first post):

As part of our entry into the Japanese rental market we are also offering a special "Hajimemashite" deal to the first two (2) customers only who pre-book for at least one month's hire and pay by 30th September 2007, by giving a JPY 500,000 discount on the standard monthly rate. This means if you are one of the first two customers to commit to renting from us you will get a full Red One package as listed above for JPY 3,000,000 per month, up to 3 months maximum. You don't have to be the first person to actually use the camera if you have a feature scheduled in two to three months' time, for example, but you do have to commit to hiring the package and pay the full rental price by September 30th 2007.
