  1. #1 21.3.2 screwed my cam so far.
I just upgraded my RED 759 to 21.3.2 from 20.1.6 and everything is jacked and by that I mean I have no picture whatsoever. I have never had a problem upgrading before but I cannot blackshade and my sensor shows absolutely nothing with lights shined into it. A lot of the buttons don't work either. I am going back to 20.1.6. Hopefully that fixes it. Anyone else?

    Ok with the 20.1.6?
Or you still have some problems?

    Please, correct my written english.
I'm still learning, and I need your help.
    Thanks in advance.

Maybe Red should declare red flag on the new released build till it be clear what is happening.

With each new firmware release, it seems there's always a report such as this. I'm thinking it's a hardware issue more than firmware, as Stuart suggested in that other thread. Not that it's any comfort to those having problems...

I'm going to upgrade mine here in just a bit. If it blows up, so be it.

I wonder is some of these reports could be due to the firmware being corrupted at download or transferring to CF card? I would think the camera runs a checksum and there should at least still be the primary boot loader to load new firmware if a bad one gets installed. Hmmm... So that shouldn't be it, but possible maybe?

Not only i upgraded the camera to 21.3.2 this morning. I even shot a TV commercial with it and everything went fine.

No problems yet with the firmware.

yeah, I was uploading to the final beta 21...about 5 hours before the release of 21 and had a problem. My camera wouldn't boot back up. Spoke to RED and they said to send it in. They received the camera yesterday and started looking into it. Hopefully I get the camera back tomorrow or Monday since I start shooting a feature on the 28th. Would be nice to shoot some tests since we want to use the 4.5K widescreen mode...

Update: We are investigating these reports, and until we have a conclusion, have pulled Build 21 v21.3.2 as an official release.

Build 20 v20.1.6 is the current official release, and Build 21 v21.3.1 is available as a Beta release for those who want to shoot in 4.5K.

This is not a problem that showed up during Beta test, and the number of reports are low, but we need to understand the root cause.

We appreciate your support and patience if it has affected you in any way.

I updated two cameras, and shot on one all day yesterday...no problem.

BUT, a third camera I'm trying to upgrade today is being "affected" and not taking to this v21.3.2

Following the upgrade steps, I got to "O.K. Cycle Power" and shut down the camera, waited and rebooted ...except the "booting..." lasted interminably.

I held the power button down to shut off and try again, then I got a flashing LCD panel.

Now I've loaded 20.1.6 on a different CF card and still the camera is hanging on the boot screen/step.

    Time for a trouble ticket?

Also, I don't understand in the instructions for upgrading how one is supposed to "Format a CF card using Build 16, 17, or 18." before copying the Upgrade folder to the card, if you don't have any camera lying around running that build?

That's my error. Apologies for that. A better phrasing would be "Format a CF card using Build 16 or later"

i.e. you must not format the CF with Build 15 or earlier.
