Has anyone used Astro HD LCD Monitors? I see they have a 6" version, the 3106, which might work well with Red. It says they can accept many HD resolutions, but I couldn't find the native display resolution.

i used it once - i was amazed - you can find the native res. on their product
page - but it took me some digging to find it - the effective res is 1024x768.
and not 2500 x 1xxx as i stated before - i was slipping down on page 9 of their
PDF "LCD Monitor Specs." sorry for that one.
but still - if that image blowed me away - i don't wanna know how the red-screen looks ;)

Their 6" and 8" widescreen LCD monitors are all 1024x768. So I don't know what product page you're looking at. Most LCDs under 8" usually fall into the 720/768p resolution category. There are now one or two 1080p panels on the market under 8" - the one Epson model posted about here on teh forums yesterday for one.
Looking through their product specs, I didn't see anything they offer having resolutions as high as 2500x1xxx - that would put it in the realm of current 30" LCD monitors from Apple, Dell and others. In fact I didn't see any of their current producst claiming even 1080p native.
The main thing Astro has had going for it (besides quality) is the addition of excellent built-in scopes and waveforms in the high-end versions.
I am hoping between the Red LCD and the cameras new exposure tools, the need for something like an Astro will have passed.
What will the RED LCD res be? It will be an LCD?
you were right - sorry for my desinformation...
i corrected my post.
greets!

My resolution comments aside (not that I was complaining about the res, just pointing out what it was), the Astro monitors look really cool. The 6" and 8" are kinda bulky at a few inches thick, but with all the functions they have, they would have to be.
I'll see what RED offers for their LCD and I might consider one of these Astro units at some point. I don't need one in my edit bay (already have a Sony 13" CRT HD studio monitor). But a set monitor in the 6" to 8" size could be really useful.
