  1. #1 RED with NIKON Adapter
When using RED with the $500 RED Nikon f-mount adapter will there be any light loss or is does it simply convert the PL mount to a NIKON mount?

    Thanks in advance.

light loss? Its not a 35mm adapter like the redrockmicro or mini35 if thats what your thinking..
Its a nikon mount that replaces the PL mount

    Yes,

I thought so but I was just double checking. Thanks for the quick reply.

So it replaces the PL mount? Can you have both PL and Nikon adapter ring?

You can indeed (in fact the R1 ships with a PL mount, so if you order a Nikon F then you'll end up with both anyway). There's some speculation over how easy it will be to accurately change the mounts, however, and it may end up being necessary to have the mount changed by a qualified and correctly tooled-up (not in a Ray Winstone sort of way!) camera tech in order to ensure correct flange focal depth - we just don't know yet...

    battistella,

Just want to make sure you understand that the Nikon mount is not an adapter ring in the sense that it mounts to the Arriflex PL mount. It's a completly seperate mount that attaches to the front of the camera in place of the Arriflex mount. If you already know this I'll shut up. lol

    Yes,

That is what I understand. At first I thought it would be a bit easier to interchange RED and NIKON lenses but I understand it is not a matter of adding this to the PF mount and putting a NIKON lens on. It's a more complicated venture than that.

    coolio.
