Can't wait to hear about all those options for everybody. Care to share any kind of announcement dates for those? Would the next while be the rest of this month or are we looking a little further off?

The biggest hurdle / problem the Canons and Nikons facing is the monitoring system for directors.

Please check out the Philip bloom article here - http://philipbloom.co.uk/2009/11/29/...-the-canon-7d/

Red - Please hear the customers feedback. HDMI can never be used as a professional monitoring solution on set.

Can Red revert back with HD-SDI than HDMI.

    What users think about this?
I'm pretty sure you can get HD-SDI on both the Base and Pro I/O modules. Just click it to the back of the body (with adapter.)

To re-iterate some earlier unanswered posts, I was just wondering if you can tell us anything about the recording format for the scaled 1080 recording capability.

Seeing as it has been scaled it can no longer be RAW camera data right?

So it must be something other than RED RAW.

Somebody mentioned REDcodeRGB earlier. Can you comment on that?

What are the implications with workflow with the format it uses? Can you edit it at fullres realtime in FCP on a mac book pro without any hardware acceleration (i.e. realtime without getting into RedRocket territory) - This would make all the difference for some markets.

Ask people who are struggling with Canon 5D mark II / 7D / 1D mark IV.

The reason being it loses the display often and limitation of cable / monitoring for director are cumbersome?

If you have friend who shoot with above canon cameras ask them or read the philip bloom article I mentioned in my post!

Unless I'm mistaken, the only time Philip mentions the HDMI output, he's referring to the fact that the 5D and 7D don't have the capability to provide video to both the LCD screen and an external monitor at the same time. I don't see how that's relevant here.

Can the Redmote monitor audio ?

I thought I saw a headphone socket on it but can't see it in the recent renders/pics - perhaps it's out of view?

If no headphone jack for streaming audio for your sound guy to monitor wirelessly then at least a PPM display?

It does have a USB port on it right?

So perhaps you could plug in a control surface and have some extra fun!
I'm thinking multichannel audio control here (with the audio guy monitoring and controlling wirelessly if the lag is low enough) but there could be many other possibilities which relate to photographic controls.

Seems like this would be quite innovative on the audio front and you guys can't resist innovating right?

Correct, the only reference I can find in his report about HDMI is this -

"Now the biggest problem when shooting handheld with this combo was Armin had know way of seeing what I was shooting. Now this is the fatal flaw with shooting the 5dmkII and 7D. If you have to use a viewfinder and I find it helps immeasurably when handheld then you cannot use a monitor. Plug a monitor in and you lose the LCD. Now you can shoot handheld and mount the monitor onto the rig and use that, then you could use a powered HDMI splitter and use two monitors or just have the director behind you looking in yours. I needed the viewfinder so it meant Armin had to watch back clips after I shot them. This slowed things down and was far from ideal. We really need to be able to have that LCD working AND plug a monitor in."

So, just what has that Canon camera issue got to do with Scarlet?
